Methods
Equipment: Sessions utilize various Pilates apparatus: Reformer, Chair, Spine Corrector, Jump Board, Springboard, etc.
Mat: The “crown jewel” of Pilates. Principles of control, balance, precision emphasized throughout mat work exercises.
Props: Too many to list :D. Paula is trained in all apparatus and accessories including box, ball, pole, ring aka Magic Circle, leg weights, hand weights, resistance bands, BOSU trainer, foam roller, glider discs, balance 1/4 rollers, and more…
Many (most!) sessions combine both equipment and mat (+ props!) exercises based on clients’ goals and preferences
Your Trainer: Paula is a BASI Pilates Instructor. In 2022 she completed comprehensive teacher training in mat as well as all Pilates apparatus (reformer, cadillac, chair, spine corrector, and more). She has passed all examinations and the 500 hour practice requirement. She has been teaching at her home studio for over 2 years and also trains clients in Oakland in private, semi-private, and group reformer and equipment sessions. Paula is a board-certified health coach (NBC-HWC) and holds certs in personal training (CPT), group fitness (GFI), & behavior change (BCS). She’s also a health & wellness nut with a masters degree in Public Health from Cal (Go Bears!).
Benefits: Pilates is FUN, effective, and safe! Improve strength, range of motion, balance and coordination. If you’d like to break a sweat, we can make that happen too :D. Pilates is also excellent for rehabilitation after injury or surgery, as well as during pre and postnatal periods. Paula has additional special expertise working with athletes across the lifespan (pre-teen, teen, young adult, adults, elderly), where Pilates is a fantastic adjunct to sports-specific training for injury prevention and performance enhancement.
